The John Austin Cheley Foundation is now known as A Thousand Summers and we continue to change kids’ lives through transformative summer camp experiences.
We have created an Alumni Program and want YOU to be a part of it.

Outdoor Leadership Program: Designed exclusively for former ATS Alumni aged 17-20 years. The program is centered around an awe-inspiring summer wilderness expedition designed to continue the personal growth and leadership development that our Campership Program has built, while also providing the baseline skills necessary to secure access to our Camp Fellowship Program and employment in the outdoor industry. The program focuses on equipping participants with the fundamentals of outdoor leadership, Wilderness First Aid and Leave No Trace training and certification, and interpersonal and leadership skills that are highly coveted in the outdoor industry and other professional settings.
Camp Fellowship Program: ATS Alumni can work at camp where they will develop leadership skills and support ATS campers. In return, ATS will offer a stipend in addition to the pay that the camp will provide.
Volunteer Opportunities: Join the Alumni Board to plan and facilitate opportunities for JACF / ATS alumni. Or volunteer in Zoom workshops with 4th-8th grade campers with our Compass Program.
